Another success in the Leaving Certificate yesterday was mother of six Ms Liz O'Connell, of Donnybrook, Douglas, in Cork, who has children ranging in age from nine to 22 years. Ms O'Connell (40), sat the exam at the same time as her daughter, Niamh, who is now working for the summer in London.
Ms O'Connell did not divulge what points level she had achieved but said she was extremely happy with her results. When she went to the Presentation Sisters Convent at Ballyphehane, Cork yesterday to get her daughter's results, she met the Minister for Education, Mr al Martin, who congratulated her.
Ms O'Connell said she was well set to go to University College, Cork, to pursue her interest in geography. "You can take it I am over the moon," she added.
