Gardaí have started a murder investigation after a post mortem on the body of a 74-year-old man found dead in Cork yesterday.
A Garda spokesman said it is "imprudent for the investigators to specify the cause of death, as it may prejudice aspects of the case at a later stage".
"There were no significant injuries on the body," the spokesman added.
The body of Mr Hornibrook was discovered by his brother, Bobby at his home on Templeacre Avenue, Gurranabraher shortly after 12:30pm yesterday afternoon.
The house has been sealed off and members of the Garda Technical Bureau are carrying out a technical examination.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who was in the Templeacre Avenue area between 9.15pm on Monday 5th night and 12.30pm on Tuesday to contact them.
