A young man who raped and robbed a youth in Cork last year has been remanded in custody by the Central Criminal Court to October 29th. The 18-year-old defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two charges of rape. The offences took place near public toilets at the junction between South Mall and Grand Parade, Cork, on March 23rd, 1996. The accused also admitted robbing the victim of £30 and his watch at South Main Street on the same date.
Ms Justice McGuinness ordered a victim impact report and probation and psychiatric reports on the defendant.
