Voting takes place today in the Cork South Central by-election to fill the vacancy left by the death of the Fine Gael TD, Mr Hugh Coveney. Some 87,606 electors are eligible to vote, with polling stations remaining open until 9 p.m. The count tomorrow will take place at the Neptune Stadium.
According to the returning officer, Mr Martin Harvey, it is expected all boxes will be open between 11 a.m. and noon, with a first-count result due about lunchtime.
The final count is expected at about 4 p.m., he said.
