A Corkman has been jailed for 24 years for possession of €4.5 million worth of ecstasy and cocaine. The sentence is one of the longest handed down in the State for the possession of drugs.
Colum Carroll, 31, of Saint Joseph's View, Riverstown, Glanmire, was found in possession of cocaine and cannabis for sale or supply in July 2002.
He was later found in possession of 500,000 ecstasy tablets when was he stopped by drug squad officers in January of this year.
The court heard that Carroll had a number of previous convictions, which included possession of cocaine, larceny and assault.

Carroll was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the first seizure and sentenced to 14 years for the second. Both sentences are to run consecutively.
