The owner of Weston aerodrome will have until June 8th to respond to a warning letter issued by Kildare County Council concerning an alleged unauthorised development at the facility on the Dublin-Kildare border.
The planning authority said unauthorised development may have been carried out on the stopway and clearway at the end of the runway to facilitate taking off and landing. It ordered Weston owner Jim Mansfield to stop such activities.
The letter stated he could make submissions or observations on the matter within four weeks.
"We will await his response and if that is not forthcoming we will take whatever action is appropriate," said a council spokesman.
Stopways and clearways can be used for boarding and disembarking from aircraft but not for landings and take-offs.
Mr Mansfield said earlier this month there was a "good possibility" that Mr Clinton would be able to visit the airport.
However Mr Clinton's spokesman contacted The Irish Times yesterday to say: "President Clinton is not going to be doing the event."
