Couple escape injury in Belfast gun attack

The couple, neither of whom was seriously injured, had just left a club in the Sydenham area of the city when they were confronted by two masked men.

The attack happened in Parkgate Avenue, near Sandbrook Avenue, shortly after 11.15 p.m. The man tackled the gunmen after a single shot was discharged and a further two shots were fired once the couple managed to run away.

Neither was seriously injured but the woman suffered a cut to the ear.
