An Irish subsidiary of a US pharmaceutical company is challenging the Minister for Health's decision to restrict the sale of products containing paracetamol, the High Court was told yesterday.
Mr Maurice Collins, for Whitehall Laboratories, of South Circular Road, Dublin, said that the restriction would affect the sales of his client's product, Anadin Extra, which the company claimed contained less paracetamol than other products on the market.
Counsel said Anadin Extra was a combination of 200mg of paracetamol and other analgesic components, whereas paracetamol-only painkillers had strengths of 500mg.
Mr Justice Kelly adjourned applications for the discovery of documents until May 25th.
