The issue of who pays the legal costs of the libel action in which Fianna Fβil national organiser, Mr Sean Sherwin, was awarded £250 damages against the Sunday Independent will come before the High Court this afternoon.
Lawyers for the parties mentioned the matter briefly to Mr Justice O'Sullivan yesterday and it was agreed to adjourn it until today.
The £250 award was made to Mr Sherwin by a jury last Friday at the conclusion of an 11-day trial. The jury found words complained of by Mr Sherwin in an article on February 14th, 1999 meant that he wrongfully solicited money from Luton-based Irish property developer, Mr Tom Gilmartin for his sister-in-law.
