A teenage girl yesterday described kissing an older man on her Confirmation night and remembering that she had to pull up her trousers and underwear. She also described having sex with the same man on a later occasion when she was still only 12.
The girl, who is now 17, was giving evidence at Donegal Circuit Court at the trial of six men who deny a series of sex assaults on her when she was 12 and 13.
She said she was wearing her Confirmation clothes - black blouse, red hipsters and strapped high-heeled sandals - when she "shifted" the man accused of the first offence against her at the back of the Mercy Hall, Ballyshannon. He was 18 at the time. The girl explained that "shifting" meant kissing with tongues. She said she remembered only pulling up her trousers and underwear in a rush.
Another time, after she had a few drinks with a girlfriend, the pair of them were in an Abrakebabra when they saw the man and went with him to St Joseph's School. They climbed over the school wall and she and the man had what she told the jury was full sex while her friend slept in a nearby shelter.
The girl also described a number of meetings with another of the defendants who, the court was told at the start of the trial, was 28 at the time. By then she was 13. He was carrying two burgers in June 2003, when he asked her and her friend if they would like to go for a spin in his car.
The girl said she sat in the front, while her friend remarked that she wouldn't fit into a child's seat in the back of the car.
After a drive the man kissed her near some woodlands and then asked her friend for a kiss but she refused. Later, when the friend had been driven back into the town, she and the man drove back to the woods where they pushed back their seats.
She continued: "He took off his shoes, he pulled down my trousers and underwear and pulled one leg out. He pulled down his own trousers and his own underwear and got on top of me and had sex with me."
The girl described similar behaviour during a number of other meetings with the man. She said he knew her age after the first occasion.
The jury was reduced to 11 yesterday when one member told Judge Martin Nolan that he believed he knew the father of one of the defendants.
The hearing continues.
