A man who combined alcoholic drink with the drug Prozac went berserk, smashing up a public house, and injuring two gardai.

Austin O'Farrell (27), of Woodfarm Road, Dublin, pleaded guilty to breaking a plate glass window at the Palmerstown House, assaulting two gardai and being drunk on November 29th last.

Kilmainham District Court heard yesterday that O'Farrell had been causing a disturbance at the pub. Then he jumped though a plate glass window. When the gardai arrived, he was lying on the ground smoking a cigarette and became very violent.

Defence solicitor Mr Terence Hanahoe said O'Farrell had been taking Prozac and had absolutely no recollection of the incident. "He remembers being in the Palmerstown House, then being in Ballyfermot Garda station, and nothing in between," he said.

"He was clearly out of his mind," said Judge Gillian Hussey. "People are given drugs and told to take them, and not told of the side effects." She remanded the defendant until September 8th.
