Fianna Fáil leader-designate and incoming taoiseach Brian Cowen will meet Northern Ireland finance minister Peter Robinson at Stormont tomorrow to discuss economic development.
The DUP minister is also First Minister-designate until the incumbent, Rev Ian Paisley, resigns some time in May.
Mr Cowen will also meet the North's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness in Belfast tomorrow.
Mr McGuinness said the meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss with Mr Cowen “a number of important issues”.
“Key amongst these is the transfer of powers on policing and justice. I will also update Mr Cowen on the ongoing preparations for the investment conference scheduled for Belfast in May,” he said.
“With the change in leadership within the DUP and a series of outstanding issues which need to be resolved quickly the political process is clearly entering a challenging phase.
“However Sinn Féin will seek to continue to make progress and allow the process of change to continue moving forward.”
