Reimagining imprisonment
The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice will host an international conference on imprisonment entitled Reimagining Imprisonment in Europe: Common Challenges, Diverse Policies and Practice, from 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 5th, to Friday, September 7th, at Trinity College Dublin.
Speakers include Michael Tonry, Fr Peter McVerry, Andrew Coyle, Alison Liebling and Ian O’Donnell.

IPRT annual lecture
The Irish Prison Annual Lecture for 2012 will take place on September 20th at 6pm at Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin 8, followed by a wine reception hosted by the Bar Council.
It will be given by Mr Justice Colman Treacy of the English High Court (and soon to be appointed as Lord Justice of Appeal) and will be chaired by Mr Justice Paul McDermott.
Mr Justice Treacy is a member of the Sentencing Council of England and Wales and his paper will be addressing the work of the Sentencing Council.

Healthcare regulation
A one-day conference on healthcare regulation and governance will take place on September 14th on the UCD Belfield campus (NovaUCD).
The conference will bring both practitioners and policymakers from Ireland and Europe to discuss what are the “right” types of regulations and governance arrangements that are relevant, effective and efficient in achieving safer and better healthcare.

Course in conflict resolution skills
A 60-hour course in mediation and conflict resolution, organised by Mediation Northside and given by Geoffrey Corry, will be held at the Civic Centre, Bunratty Road, Coolock, Dublin 17th, on October 4th, 5th and 6th and 18th, 19th and 20th.
It is designed for volunteers and professionals who want to learn basic conflict resolution and mediation skills. The course costs €895, plus €250 for the video assessment. Information from 01-8482988 or email vgaughran@nclc.
