Gardaí have arrested three people after the search of two houses in Tralee

Gardaí have seized €177,000 worth of cannabis along with a handgun and ammunition in Tralee as part of an ongoing operation into the sale of drugs in Kerry.

Three people were arrested following searches at two houses at about 1am and 3am this morning.

At the first house in Fenit cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €37,000 were seized along with a handgun, ammunition and a bullet-proof vest.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested and taken to Tralee Garda station where they are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

At the second house in Barrow West, Ardfert, cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €140,000 were seized.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and is currently being held at Listowel Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
