Cannabis worth €730k found hidden in farm machinery on haulage truck

A man in his 50s was arrested in Co Tipperary after follow up searches

Cannabis worth almost three quarters of a million euro has been seized by gardaí.

The discovery was made on Friday, June 30th following the search of a haulage vehicle that had arrived into Ireland containing farm machinery.

The cannabis, worth an estimated €730,000, had been concealed within the machinery.

Follow up searches were conducted in the Moneygall area of Co Tipperary.

Gardaí arrested a man, aged in his 50s, on Wednesday and he is being held at Nenagh Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

It follows an operation targeting organised criminal activity by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Serious Crime Task Force and the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service.
