A hit-and-run driver knocked a cyclist off his bike and injured him in Dublin early this morning.

Gardaí have appealed to members of the public for information after the 26-year-old man was knocked over by a "black saloon-type car" in Baldoyle just before 1am on Saturday.

Despite initial concerns over his condition, the man's injuries are said to be non life-threatening and he was treated at Beaumont Hospital following the incident.

Gardaí recovered an abandoned car which they believe may have been used in the incident a short time later in Coolock, and they are continuing to search for the driver.
