Four arrested over robbery of Limerick casino winner

Motorist is robbed at knifepoint after being forced off M20 in early morning incident

Three people remain in Garda custody today in Limerick after a casino winner was robbed at knifepoint after winning a substantial amount of money.

The victim, who is aged in his early 30s, was threatened with a knife, beaten and robbed of winnings as he was driving home on the M20 in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He was driving along the Southern Ring Road when his car was rammed off the road near the Dooradoyle exit at approximately 1.30am.

He was treated in hospital for his injuries but has since been discharged.

Two men aged 25 and 31 and two women aged 28 and 31, were arrested in a follow up operation.

The men were held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and remain in custody.

One of the women has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

The second woman remains in custody under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardaí are also examining two cars seized as part of the investigation.

Gardaí in Roxboro Road Garda station are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information to contact them on 061 214340, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

They are interested in particular in speaking to anybody who was travelling on the M20 in the direction of Cork/Adare between the hours of 1.15am and 1.30am and who may have noticed anything suspicious.
