Gardaí investigating a violent assault in which a man died in Temple Bar in Dublin have arrested two women in connection with the incident.
Gareth O’Connor (27) from Clondalkin was assaulted on Cow’s Lane at about 8.45pm on September 10th. He had sustained a serious head injury and was taken to St James’s Hospital where he died.
Gardaí released a statement on Tuesday which said two women in their early twenties had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The women were detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. One of the women was released from custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The second woman remains in Garda custody.
The statement said investigating gardaí “continue to appeal” to any persons who may have witnessed the incident or who were in the vicinity of Cow’s Lane at the time to contact them.
