Lecture on US human rights
Steven Shapiro, the legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), will give the second annual Dave Ellis memorial lecture on the topic, The Evolving Landscape of Human Rights in the United States. The lecture is organised by FLAC, the legal rights campaigning organisation, in memory of one of its longest-serving members and campaigners, Dave Ellis.
The lecture will take place in the Morrison Hotel, Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin today at 6.30pm. As places are limited, those wishing to attend should email piln@flac.ie or call 01-8745690 to reserve a seat.
King's Inns lectures
Following the launch of the exhibition, Drawings from the Collection of the Honourable Society of King's Inns a series of accompanying lectures is now taking place in the Irish Architectural Archive, 45 Merrion Square, Dublin.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd at 1.15pm Prof Colum Kenny, BL of the school of communications, DCU will speak on the topic, On holy Ground: King's Inns at its former Location on the Site of the present Four Courts, 1541-1796 and on Thursday, December 4th at 1.15pm Dr Edward McParland of Trinity College will speak on the topic, A King's Inns Lecture.

Edgar Graham memorial event
The 2008 Edgar Graham Memorial Lecture, entitled Managing the Constitution and ruling by Law, will be given by Prof John McEldowney of the school of law, University of Warwick on Friday next at 5.30pm in the Peter Froggatt Centre, Queen's University, Belfast. It is open to the public.
This event marks the 25th anniversary of the killing of Edgar Graham, a law lecturer barrister and Ulster Unionist member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for south Belfast, who was shot by the IRA outside the university library on December 7th, 1983.
