The PSNI has revealed it is no longer seeking anyone in Northern Ireland in relation to the murder of Jennifer Dornan after a man was arrested in Bundoran, Co Donegal on Friday.
The man (37) had been unlawfully at large and was lodged at Mountjoy Prison on Saturday morning, August 8th.
On Sunday the PSNI confirmed the man is a suspect in the murder and they are considering seeking an extradition order to bring him to Northern Ireland.
A PSNI spokesman said: “There are a number of options we will now be considering to progress this investigation and seeking an extradition order is one of these options.”
Ms Dornan, a mother of three aged 30, was found dead at her Hazel View home in the Lagmore area of Dunmurry on Sunday last following a house fire.
It later transpired she had been stabbed to death and her home was set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
On Saturday evening, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Dickson said: "As a result of close liaison between detectives investigating the murder of Jennifer Dornan and our colleagues in An Garda Siochána, a 37-year-old man has been arrested in Co Donegal yesterday evening Friday 7 August on an unrelated matter. "
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Belfast on Wednesday on suspicion of withholding information by detectives.
He was released from police custody on Thursday pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service in the North.
Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said: “It is early days and the details of this development are unclear.
“We are all thinking of Jennifer’s family.”
