Man (22) to appear in court charged over Cabra death

A man is to appear in court tomorrow charged in connection with the death of a 21-year-old in Dublin yesterday.

Jason 'Jay' Saunders died after sustaining severe head injuries after being attacked outside a property on Fassaugh Avenue in Cabra.

He was found injured on the street yesterday morning near a flat where he had been attending a St Patrick's Day party and was pronounced dead later at the Mater Hospital.

Two men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested subsequently.

The 22-year-old, who was being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Finglas Garda station, was tonight charged in connection with the matter. He is to appear in court at 10.30am tomorrow.

The 25-year-old, detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, which relates to the withholding of information, was released today. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
