A man was stabbed after he confronted two youths who may have thrown an object at his car in Cork last night.
The incident happened on Shandon Street in the north side of the city at 10.25pm.
The 25-year-old motorist was driving towards the city centre and stopped his car after an item was thrown at his vehicle.
The driver confronted two youths, aged between 15 and 17 years of age, when one of the teenagers produced an implement and stabbed him.
The youths fled in the direction of Dominick Street.
The victim had one stab wound and was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
An area of Shandon Street, near the credit union, was sealed off and an technical examination carried out.
