A group have offered a €10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for a serious assault on a Dublin man last August.

The Crimestoppers organisation made the appeal to help bring to justice the gang who attacked 41-year-old Vincent O'Brien, on August 18th, 2005, leaving him brain-damaged.

He was attacked by a group of males in their late twenties at 2.45am on Huband Road, Bluebell, Dublin 12.

Mr O'Brien of O'Moore Road, Ballyfermot, has been in St James's Hospital since the assault eight months ago.

The Director of Crimestoppers, Yvonne Hyland said: "We are asking the community to support the Gardaí in their inquiries into this vicious attack on Vincent O'Brien.

"Someone must have information that will help bring charges against the people responsible for this assault", she added.
