The annual rate of industrial inflation fell in July according to data published today by the Central Statistics Office.
Factory gate prices increased by 0.2 per cent in July to bring the overall Manufacturing Output Price Index to 132.8. This gives an annual rate of wholesale inflation of 2.6 per cent compared with an annual increase of 3 per cent in June.
Contributing to the annual change were increases in dairy products (up 7.1 per cent) and alcoholic drink (up 3.2 per cent).
The figures also show a 2.7 per cent decrease in slaughtering, preparing and preserving of meat due to the foot-and-mouth earlier in the year.
