Minister for Transport Martin Cullen this morning announced he has appointed a team of independent experts to report on the cost of building a second terminal at Dublin airport.

Mr Cullen said the group would report in June with their assessment of the terminal project as designed and costed by the Dublin Airport Authority.

Plans for the terminal were included in the Government's the Aviation Action Plan, which was released last May. It is expected to be built by 2009.

"I signalled in May last year that efficiency of Terminal Two would be subject to a triple safeguard of consultation, verification and regulation," Mr Cullen said. "This approach ensures that with Terminal Two we get the best outcome for customers plus maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness."
