Ankara - Turkish-Cypriot authorities are considering a ban on all intercommunal talks with Greek Cypriots, Turkish-Cypriot newspapers have reported. They published conflicting statements by two senior Turkish-Cypriot officials, who both con firmed the possibility of such a ban, but differed on its implementation. "Such [intercommunal] activities have been suspended as of Saturday until we finish our final assessment," Turkish-Cypriot foreign minister Mr Taner Etkin said, according to the reports, but deputy premier Mr Serdar Denktash told Kibris newspaper that only "formal" talks between officials from the two Cypriot communities at a UN-controlled building on the Green Line had been suspended.
