Montreux - The President of Cyprus, Mr Glafkos Clerides, yesterday said that the week-long UN-mediated talks on the divided Mediterranean island had failed.
"At the end of this week we're exactly where we were when we came here," he said. Earlier, the Turkish-Cypriot leader, Mr Rauf Denktash, said the talks were deadlocked and blamed the EU decision to open negotiations next year with the Greek half of the island for membership.
