Anti-bin-charge protesters will stage a demonstration at the Dáil this afternoon after a campaigner suffered a heart attack in Wheatfield prison where he is serving a three-week sentence for breaching a court order in connection with the protest.
The man in his sixties was rushed to Tallaght General Hospital yesterday, suffering from chest pains. His condition is understood to be stable but he will not be released from hospital until later today at the earliest.
The man, from south Dublin, was jailed two weeks ago for being in contempt of a High Court injunction lodged by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council not to interfere with bin collections.
He is due to be released from prison next Tuesday.
Today's protest outside the Dáil at lunchtime will demand the immediate release of all seven men currently imprisoned for being in contempt of a High Court injunctions.
