Italian centre Manuel Dallan has not recovered from his ankle injury in time to face France in the Six Nations tomorrow and has to settle for a place on the substitutes bench.
He sustained a right ankle injury during the second half of last Sunday's 50-9 defeat to England.
"Manuel is 95 per cent recovered and so he has won himself at least a place on the bench," coach John Kirwan said today.
Padova centre Matteo Barbini will replace Dallan in the starting line-up for the game in Paris.
The absence of full-back Andrea Masi, who picked up a leg injury last Sunday, means a tournament debut for South African-born full-back Roland De Marigny.
Elsewhere, Stade Francais full-back Mirco Bergamasco replaces winger Nicola Mazzucato who will join Dallan on the bench.
