An appeal by the DPP against the alleged leniency of the four-year prison term handed down to Wayne O'Donoghue will be heard next July, the Court of Criminal Appeal (CCA) decided today.

The review of the sentence given to Wayne O'Donoghue (21) for killing Robert Holohan (11) will proceed on July 13th next. It will be heard by the three-judge appeal court and is likely to take more than a day.

The case was mentioned before Mr Justice Adrian Hardiman at the CCA this afternoon, and he fixed July 13th as the hearing date.

At the Central Criminal Court sitting in Ennis last January, Mr Justice Paul Carney imposed the four-year sentence on O'Donoghue after a jury convicted him of the manslaughter of Robert.
