Dutch club AZ Alkmaar had complained to the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) and demanded £3 million compensation, claiming the twenty four-year old broke a verbal agreement to join the club when he left Feyenoord last Summer. Connolly eventually left Holland to sign a three year deal with Wimbeldon, where his new manager Terry Burton was today delighted to learn that a arbitration committee decided to reject Alkmaar’s complaint.

"David was always our player, but it's great it has finally been cleared up. You don't want anything hanging over his head all season."

Connolly has scored six goals in twelve games for his new club so far this season.
