Dutch international midfielder Edgar Davids will make his first competitive appearance for four months when he lines up for Juventus against Celtic in their Champions League group E match tomorrow night.

Davids completed his reduced ban for doping offences today after it was cut from five months to four by Italy's sporting appeals body earlier this month.

The combative midfielder made his last competitive appearance in Serie A against Fiorentina on May 11th and was then suspended after anti-doping authorities revealed he had tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone after Juve's match with Udinese on March 4th.

Davids had feared he could miss out on the entire season and the World Cup finals, but with the postponement of last week's scheduled Champions League opener against Porto, he is in the surprising position of being able to start Juve's campaign in Europe.

Italy international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said Juve are aware of the quality of opposition they will face at the Delle Alpi on Tuesday.

"We know about Celtic. They are a team that plays with the ball and their style is a little different from that of the stereotype of British football.

"And in their attack they have the top scorer in Europe last season in Sweden's Henrik Larsson. So we need to have our eyes open."
