A Dublin man who hid weighing scales and £11,000 worth of cocaine and ecstasy in his motor-van, has been jailed for five years by Judge Frank O'Donnell. Derek Ahern (29), Shanliss Avenue, Santry, a carpenter, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two charges of the possession and supply of cocaine and ecstasy on November 7th, 1997. He has no previous convictions.

Garda Brian Roberts said Ahern had admitted in a statement that in the previous six to seven months he had been selling £5,000 of cocaine weekly.
