The investigation by environmental health officers into the breach of the smoking law by Fine Gael TD, Mr John Deasy will be finished as "speedily as possible".
Health officers yesterday interviewed the Waterford TD following his admission that he had smoked in the Dáil bar after he had been refused access to a yard.
The Eastern Regional Health Authority last night refused to comment on its inquiry: "We don't comment on individual cases."
Mr Deasy was sacked as Fine Gael's justice spokesman in the wake of the incident.
