British department store group Debenhams has chosen Paddy Power's Nigel Northridge to succeed John Lovering as chairman following his retirement on April 1st, it said today.
Mr Northridge (53), who is chairman of Paddy Power, is also an independent director at temporary power provider Aggreko and a non-executive director at both travel firm Thomas Cook and car dealer Inchcape.
He spent 32 years with tobacco firm Gallaher in sales and marketing roles, becoming group chief executive in 2000.
Mr Northridge joined Debenhams as non-executive director on January 1st.
