The trial of a man charged with raping a girl in Dublin in 1995 is to proceed with the defence team he had earlier dismissed, the Central Criminal Court was told yesterday.
The defendant told Mr Justice Morris last Thursday that he had been upset when he wrote a letter sacking his legal advisers and he now wanted to reinstate them.
Mr Justice Morris was told on Thursday by Mr Martin Giblin SC that it might not be possible for the solicitor and barristers to represent the man.
He adjourned the case to yesterday, and was told the original team of a solicitor and two counsel would in fact continue to appear for the defendant.
