People in the Dublin 4 postal district are unlikely to receive mail this morning after an anthrax scare at the area's delivery office in Ballsbridge yesterday.
A suspect package, which was delivered to the British Embassy and is believed to have been damaged, was thought to have passed through the postal district's delivery office, on Shelbourne Road.
All of the office's 60 workers were taken for medical treatment and the office was closed pending the results of tests on the substance found in the package, which was sent for analysis.
A spokeswoman for An Post said it was unlikely to deliver any mail today, but said staff would work throughout the bank holiday weekend if necessary to deliver the backlog.
Emergency services were also called to the Irish Financial Services Centre yesterday morning when white powder was found on the floor of an office.
