A goal from Steven Gerrard, a Michael Owen penalty and a strike by Norway's John Arne Riise gave Liverpool a 3-1 victory at Everton today that ended their three-match winless streak.

Striker Kevin Campbell put Everton ahead after only five minutes of a keenly-contested city derby only for Liverpool to equalise seven minutes later when England's Gerrard scored with a fine cross shot from the right.

Owen slotted home his penalty on the half hour after David Unsworth brought down Emile Heskey and Riise ended a good run down the left with Liverpool's third in the 52nd minute.
