Derry football management reacted with anger today to the news that their county's clash with Dublin would be delayed a week, to be played on Saturday June 28th in Clones, instead of the expected date of this coming Saturday.
The SFC second round qualifier is now set for 4.15pm on Saturday 28th - which gives the Dubs a crucial extra week to prepare to face the Oak Leafers - after their disastrous loss to Laois yesterday.
The decision to delay the game by a week has led to some confusion - and no little anger - outside the Pale. Derry county secretary Patsy Mulholland this afternoon claimed that his side "hadn't any say in the matter."
He also indicated that it would have been to Derry's advantage to play the game on the preceding Saturday.
In their stead this Saturday at Clones, Meath will line out to face Monaghan.
