Derry City have moved into third place of the eircom Premier League after coming from behind to beat Drogheda United 2-1 in the Brandywell tonight.
It was Derry's seventh consecutive game unbeaten in the league this year, but they made sure they did it the hard way after a mistake from Paddy McLoughlin let Don Tierney in to give the visitors an early lead.
Derry levelled the game however just before half time when Sean Friars connected with a Liam Coyle cross to delight the home crowd.
Coyle was on hand again two minutes after the restart to clinch the game for Derry with an inch perfect lob.
In the eircom League First Division a Warren Parkes hat trick was the highlight of Athlone Town's 4-2 win over second placed Dundalk at Oriel Park.
Dundalk's goals came from Martin Reilly and Cormac Malone, while Stephen Mullen added Athlone's fourth in the 87th minute.
Leaders Waterford United maintained their grip on the top with a two nil win over Cobh Ramblers at the RSC.
It was the night of Vinnie Sullivan as the Waterford striker got a brace before getting sent off after a clash with Gareth O'Donovan who also got his marching orders.
