Limerick City 0-0 Derry City
Derry City's hopes of top flight survival were boosted this afternoon after Greg Dyke's side played out a scoreless draw away to Limerick.
The Candystripes narrowly avoided automatic relegation at the weekend with a crucial win in Waterford but must now negotiate the promotion / relegation playoffs, starting with today's semi-final first leg tie at the Pike Rovers SG.
Despite the lack of an away goal, the Candystripes are now favourites to progress to the final where they will meet either Bray Wanderers or Finn Harps.
Limerick, who defeated Derry in last year's League Cup enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges but were unable to find a way past Alan Gough in the Derry goal and the visitors more than held their own in a scrappy second half.
