Talks in Derry between the Apprentice Boys and the Bogside Residents Group aimed at brokering a deal for next week's Relief of Derry parade ended last night without an agreement.
However, both sides have agreed to study a number of proposals and meet again next Wednesday. The talks, convened by the City Centre Management group, lasted for 2 1/2 hours.
Talks chairman Mr Garvan O'Doherty described the meeting as difficult and confirmed that the most contentious issue was that of feeder parades.
"We revisited many areas and proposals were tabled by me which the group believes could give a long-term solution to the process," said Mr O'Doherty. "This is a bit of a deja vu scenario, because the same issues and the same problems arise each year.
"There is a will on both sides and it is important that the talks are taking place. I am hopeful there will be a solution," the talks chairman said.
