Morris Tribunal: A High Court application by businessman Dermot Desmond for leave to challenge certain procedures of the Moriarty tribunal will now be heard on June 23rd. The hearing had been due to resume on Monday.
The adjournment application was made yesterday on behalf of counsel for Mr Desmond who said his side had received a lengthy affidavit from the tribunal on Wednesday evening and needed time to consider it.
Mr Desmond is contesting the reading of the findings of the Glackin report into the public record of the Moriarty tribunal. He contends the readings of the findings into the public record is damaging to his reputation.
The Glackin report was concerned with the sale of the Johnson, Mooney and O'Brien site at Ballsbridge, Dublin, to Telecom Éireann and the involvement in the sale of two property companies in which Mr Desmond was found to have an interest. Lawyers for Mr Desmond say their client has always disputed the Glackin report.
When the hearing opened earlier this month, Mr Bill Shipsey SC, for Mr Desmond, said the manner in which the Glackin report was introduced and read into the records of the tribunal was causing concern to Mr Desmond, who had been given no notification that the report would be introduced.
