Electrical goods retailer DSG International plans to rebrand all of its Dixons outlets in Ireland under the Currys name.
The company said today the Dixons brand will now only be used for internet sales and that it plans to open a new Currys store in the "Leinster area" in the near future.
This store opening, coupled with the rebranding will bring the number of wholly-owned Currys outlets in Ireland to 18, with one franchise outlet in Co Donegal.
The Dixons outlet in Jervis Street Shopping Centre, Dublin will become a PC World store
British electrical retailer DSG International is to re-name all of its Dixons stores in Ireland under the Currys brand. The change brings the total number of Currys outlets to 17.
The company says the Dixons brand will now be purely an internet retailer, in line with a strategy adopted in the UK two years ago. Currys.ie and PC World.ie will also be launched later in the year as part of a multi-channel strategy for these two brands.
DSG International has more than 1,300 stores in 28 countries and employing nearly 40,000 people. Its brands in Ireland and the UK include PC World, Currys and Dixons.co.uk .
