A doctor will appear in court today charged in connection with the failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.
Dr Sabeel Ahmed (26), who worked at a Cheshire hospital, is accused of possessing information that could have prevented an act of terrorism.
The medic, from Bangalore in India, was arrested in Liverpool on June 30th by police investigating the botched attacks. Dr Ahmed, the third person to be charged over the failed bombings, will appear in court in London.
He is the brother of Kafeel Ahmed (27), who was arrested after a flaming Jeep was driven into Glasgow Airport. He remains under police guard in a critical condition in hospital.
Over the weekend, police in Britain released two people and were given extra time to question a third suspect arrested over the failed attacks. Two trainee doctors, aged 25 and 28, were released without charge yesterday after being held since their arrest at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, Scotland, on July 2nd.
Police were given until next Saturday to continue questioning Dr Mohammed Asha (26), who was arrested on the M6 motorway in Cheshire on June 30th.
The third person to be charged over the attacks is Iraqi doctor Bilal Abdullah (27), who is accused of conspiring to cause explosions. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on July 27th.
The Australian government said today it would override a magistrate's decision to bail another doctor charged over the alleged plot.
The alleged terrorist plot unfolded after two car bombs were found in central London on June 29th. The following day, a flaming Jeep Cherokee was driven into the main entrance of Glasgow airport.
