A man has appeared in court in Co Donegal charged with rape and sexual assault. The man, arrested at his home yesterday, was taken to Letterkenny Garda station where he was charged, before being brought before Carndonagh District Court.
Garda Supt Jim Gallagher said the accused made no reply when the charges were put to him. Both offences are alleged to have occurred on June 21st, 2000. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with raping a female and with sexual assault.
Judge John O'Donnell granted legal aid and remanded the man on bail to appear before Letterkenny District Court on October 18th.
