France's Xavier Garbajosa and Thibault Privat have pulled out of their side's Lloyds TSB Six Nations clash against England on Saturday.
Toulouse winger Garbajosa, who had a painful thigh since Saturday, had further medical examinations last night in Paris that revealed he would not be able to take his place at the Stade de France.
He will be replaced by Montferrand's Jimmy Merlu, who has one cap with Les Bleus and was in the squad for the Wales game.
Privat picked up a knee injury with his club Beziers against Montauban and will not be replaced on Saturday.
France team manager Jo Maso has defended Northampton's Olivier Brouzet who picked up a yellow card against Leicester at the weekend.
"Many people who were in Leicester found that the sanction was severe," he said in L'Equipe.
"Olivier tried to separate one of his team-mates and a Leicester player and the referee thought the way he did it was too pushy. For me this was not an undisciplined gesture".
