The Church of Ireland Primate, Dr Robin Eames, speaking in a personal capacity, has said he will be voting Yes in the referendum on Friday. A spokeswoman for the Archbishop said last night he was convinced the agreement "has enough for unionists and our Roman Catholic friends and neighbours for us all to start again".
The Catholic Primate, Dr Sean Brady, when asked by The Irish Times how he himself would vote on Friday, said: "My own vote will simply be one of many and I will cast it in the light of what I believe is more likely to produce a just and lasting peace for us all as a people."
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Dr Sam Hutchinson, declined to say how he would vote, but reiterated his church's view that people should vote after giving the Agreement prayerful consideration.
The President of the Methodist Church, Dr Norman Taggart, drew attention to a statement released by the church at the weekend which stated that there was no theological justification whatsoever to rule out voting Yes.
