A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was part of a gang that allegedly mugged a takeaway van driver for a spice burger and other items has appeared before Tallaght District Court.

The court heard that it will be alleged the gang threatened to smash his van up if the driver did not give them food.

The boy, with an address in Tallaght, is charged with robbing the named driver of food worth €14.60 at an estate in west Tallaght on January 4th, 2010.

The boy was accompanied in court by his father.

Sgt Bernard Jones said the alleged robbery occurred during the “big freeze” in early January. The court heard that the boy will be the only one to face charges out of the incident.

He was remanded on continuing bail for three weeks.
