Drivers' walk-out hits Louth bus services

Bus travel in Co Louth has been disrupted by a workers walk-out at Bus Éireann's Drogheda depot.

Bus travel in Co Louth has been disrupted by a workers walk-out at Bus Éireann's Drogheda depot.

The unofficial action was taken this morning when a driver refused to obey an instruction from a superior and was suspended. The driver's colleagues walked out in protest.

There is currently no service around the Drogheda area and on the Droghda/Dublin route.

A spokesman for Bus Éireann said the 40 to 50 workers, who are members of Siptu and the National Bus and Rail Union are engaging in "unofficial action".

"We have been in contact with the unions and have asked that workers return to work and use the normal procedures for resolving a dispute," the spokesman said.
